"Join us at the Ocean County Library Jackson Branch for the film Mulberry Child followed by Q & A with author Jian Ping. The film Mulberry Child is the powerful, deeply moving story of author Jian Ping’s Mulberry Child: A Memoir of China. Learn about her coming of age as the daughter of a senior government official and her family’s struggle to survive China’s Cultural Revolution of 1966-1976.
Award-winning filmmaker Susan Morgan Cooper’s documentary film is narrated by Golden Globe Winner and actress Jacqueline Bisset. Film running time is 1 hour 25 minutes followed by Q&A with author Jian Ping."

Mulberry Child: From China's Cultural Revolution to Chicago
Author Jian Ping will talk about her family's story of surviving the chaos and persecution during China's Cultural Revolution (1966 – 1976), as revealed in her memoir Mulberry Child. The book has been turned into an award-winning documentary film and was broadcast on PBS. Roger Ebert reviewed it, calling it "a powerful and touching film."
